Executive Summary

The Principal, Mrs. Leechele Booker, on behalf of the Superintendent of Schools, hereby requests the Board to approve an overnight field trip for Hernando High School’s Band Students to perform at the Walt Disney World Resort from May 11-13, 2026 in Orlando, Florida.  As the culminating activity for the year, Hernando High School Band has been selected through a strict audition process to perform in the Mainstreet Parade at the Magic Kingdom on May 11, 2026.  Performance time will be announced at a later date.  After the performance, the band students will be able to enjoy the parks for the remainder of the day and return to the Walt Disney World All Star Music resort.  This is the first time in 10 years that the band will have this opportunity to perform in front of an international audience while making a memorable lifetime experience to share with family and friends.

Financial Impact

See attached budget sheet.

If expenditure is not currently budgeted, this will serve as the budget amendment when Board approved. If the agenda item includes the purchase of goods or services, the funds requested are an anticipated amount and may fluctuate depending on such factors as current market conditions, product availability, additional funding sources, and the needs of the District.  Should the actual cost exceed the anticipated amount, the Board approves the additional cost, after review by the superintendent, but not in excess of the funds available in the site’s approved annual budget.
