Executive Summary
The District Athletic Director, on behalf of the Superintendent of Schools, hereby requests the Board to approve the affiliation agreement between University of South Florida (USF) Board of Trustees for and on behalf of USF Health and Hernando County School District (HCSD). This agreement establishes a partnership to provide experiential learning opportunities for master's level students enrolled in the USF's Athletic Training Program. This partnership establishes a structured internship program in which USF Athletic Training students will gain hands-on clinical experience under the direct supervision of certified athletic trainers employed by the HCSD. The agreement is designed to support the professional development of future athletic trainers while simultaneously strengthening the quality of sports medicine services provided to student-athletes within the district. The program will foster a mutually beneficial relationship, enhancing the pipeline of qualified athletic trainers and promoting best practices in sports safety and care within the district. There are no costs associated with this partnership.
