Approve the 2025-26 Class Size Reduction Compliance Plan

body

Executive Summary

The Director of Human Resources, on behalf of the Superintendent of Schools, hereby requests the Board approve the 2025-26 Class Size Reduction Compliance Plan. This plan is required because class size site requirements were not met during the October 2025 FTE reporting period at Challenger K8 and Chocachatti Elementary School. The mandated class size for grades K-3 is 18 students per teacher. At Challenger K8, the K-3 class size averaged 18.24 students, while at Chocachatti Elementary School it averaged 18.51 students. As both schools are designated District-Operated Schools of Choice, class size compliance will be addressed during enrollment for the 2026-27 school year. Additionally, when/if a current student is withdrawn for the remainder of this school year, class size will be reviewed before that seat is filled.

Financial Impact

The cost for this agenda item is $0, see attached budget sheet.

If expenditure is not currently budgeted, this will serve as the budget amendment when Board approved. If the agenda item includes the purchase of goods or services, the funds requested are an anticipated amount and may fluctuate depending on such factors as current market conditions, product availability, additional funding sources, and the needs of the District.  Should the actual cost exceed the anticipated amount, the Board approves the additional cost, after review by the superintendent, but not in excess of the funds available in the site’s approved annual budget.
