Executive Summary

The Director of Secondary Programs, on behalf of the Superintendent of Schools, hereby requests the Board to recognize the students who participated in the Numeracy Week “Pouring Our Hearts into Math” activity.

The District Elementary Math Department were proud to celebrate Numeracy Week with our schools through the “Pouring Our Hearts into Math” activity, which gave our kindergarten through fifth grade students the opportunity to step into the role of a math teacher.

The students created short videos or instructional posters to teach a math concept they had learned, using clear explanations, math vocabulary, and creative visuals. Through this experience, we saw students build confidence, strengthen their understanding, and share their excitement for math in meaningful and engaging ways. This activity allowed us to highlight the joy of learning math while fostering creativity and critical thinking across our schools.

Financial Impact

See attached budget sheet.

If expenditure is not currently budgeted, this will serve as the budget amendment when Board approved. If the agenda item includes the purchase of goods or services, the funds requested are an anticipated amount and may fluctuate depending on such factors as current market conditions, product availability, additional funding sources, and the needs of the District.  Should the actual cost exceed the anticipated amount, the Board approves the additional cost, after review by the superintendent, but not in excess of the funds available in the site’s approved annual budget.
