body

Executive Summary

The Chief Financial Officer, on behalf of the Superintendent of Schools, hereby requests Board approval  of ordinary expenditures from July 1, 2026, through the adoption of the tentative budget.

Pursuant to Section 1011.08, Florida Statutes, school boards are authorized to approve ordinary expenditures during the period between July 1 and the date the tentative budget is officially adopted.

Approval is requested to expend funds until the tentative budget is approved on July 28, 2026, when the tentative budget is scheduled for approval. These expenditures are necessary to maintain the continued operation of the school system until the Board adopts the final budget for the 2026-2027 fiscal year on September 8, 2026.

Expenditures will include salaries, utilities, materials, supplies, equipment, and other essential operating costs  necessary to ensure a smooth, orderly, and uninterrupted operation of all schools and departments.

If expenditure is not currently budgeted, this will serve as the budget amendment when Board approved. If the agenda item includes the purchase of goods or services, the funds requested are an anticipated amount and may fluctuate depending on such factors as current market conditions, product availability, additional funding sources, and the needs of the District. Should the actual cost exceed the anticipated amount, the Board approves the additional cost, after review by the superintendent, but not in excess of the funds available in the site’s approved annual budget.
