Review and Tentative Approval of Job Descriptions

Executive Summary
The Director of Human Resources, on behalf of the Superintendent of Schools, hereby requests the Board grant tentative approval for seven job descriptions. This presentation will review four of the job descriptions as part of an overall recruitment and retention plan. This plan revolves around the start of the Associate Teacher Substitute position as a way to fill vacancies utilizing the funds budgeted for allocated positions to pay for a candidate with an Associate's degree and a desire to teach to substitute while working on their Bachelor's degree and full time certification as a teacher. The Board gave tentative approval for the Associate Teacher Substitute program at the May 30, 2023 meeting. This presentation hopes to build on the comprehensive nature of the plan to fully flush out the roles for the job descriptions attached that will help support recruitment and retention of employees for the school district. One job description is for the Associate Teacher Substitute which was tentatively approved. Three of the four positions will support this program and will additionally support and mentor 176 current temporarily certified teachers and all those hired this year with that certification. The overall program and these three positions will insure support to all with best classroom practices, supporting and auditing the mentor support these associate teachers and temporary certified teachers receive, and guiding the process of both these types of teachers moving towards becoming professionally certified teachers and establishing a long term career with the school district.
