body

Executive Summary

The Director of Transportation, on behalf of the Superintendent of Schools hereby requests the Board approve the services from three (3) independent contractors to assist as needed for Transportation Fleet Maintenance.  The services of these independent contractors were used to assist in bus fleet repairs during our reduced fleet maintenance staff and the transition of new employees, with total spending not exceeding $50,000.00.   This agenda is requesting approval to continue using their services for an additional spending of $20,000 through June 30, 2023.

A Hernando County School Bus must pass the State Safety Inspection every twenty-five (25) days. Buses that do not pass inspection are removed from service until repairs are made to specifications. The Independent Contractors assist the fleet maintenance staff repairing buses to return to the bus to service as quickly as possible.

Financial Impact

See attached budget sheet.

If expenditure is not currently budgeted, this will serve as the budget amendment when Board approved. If the agenda item includes the purchase of goods or services, the funds requested are an anticipated amount and may fluctuate depending on such factors as current market conditions, product availability, additional funding sources, and the needs of the District.  Should the actual cost exceed the anticipated amount, the Board approves the additional cost, after review by the superintendent, but not in excess of the funds available in the site’s approved annual budget.
