Executive Summary
The Supervisor of Secondary Programs, on behalf of the Superintendent of Schools, hereby requests the Board approval to purchase various Advanced Placement Exams from the College Board for an estimated cost of $223,720.00 (2,380 exams) including shipping and handling. Florida Statute 1007.27 requires the district to provide curricular options to include accelerated mechanism that shorten the time necessary for a student to complete the requirements to earn a high school diploma and postsecondary degree.
Advanced Placement Summer Institutes (APSI) are required for any teachers wishing to teach an AP course for the first time or veteran teachers wishing to continue professional development in their subject area. Each year all of our high schools send several teachers to these summer institutes for additional training. Springstead High School will be sending seven teachers at a total cost of $5,295.00.
The College Board is the sole source vendor and has exclusive production rights of these materials.
