Review proposed job description of Substitute ESE Therapy Provider.
body
Executive Summary
The Director of Exceptional Student Education, on behalf of the Superintendent of Schools, hereby requests the Board review the proposed job description for Substitute ESE Therapy Provider. The Substitute ESE Therapy Provider position ensures continuity of essential special education services for students when a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP), Occupational Therapist (OT), or Physical Therapist (PT) is temporarily unavailable. This position allows the district to maintain compliance with federal and state mandates under IDEA by preventing service interruptions that could impact student progress and access to their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Establishing this job description provides flexibility to secure fully licensed, short-term professionals who can meet therapy goals during leaves of absence, vacancies, or other temporary staffing gaps. This proactive measure supports student success, protects the district from potential compliance findings, and demonstrates a continued commitment to meeting the educational and developmental needs of all students with disabilities.
An example of when a substitute Therapy provider would be needed is as follows:
* Position Vacancy with no Applicants
The approval of this position will not cause a financial impact due to the unused salary from the vacant position being used to fund this position.
