Executive Summary

The Supervisor of College and Career Programs, on behalf of the Superintendent of Schools, hereby requests the Board to approve the contract between Florida Health Sciences Center, Inc. d/b/a Tampa General Hospital and Hernando County School District (HCSD). This agreement establishes a partnership to provide high-quality clinical learning experiences at Tampa General Hospital facilities for students enrolled in HCSD’s college and career programs in Health Sciences. Under this agreement, students will have access to hospital-based clinical experiences, observation, and supervised patient care opportunities that align with program objectives and industry standards. The agreement also ensures mutual collaboration on student supervision, safety, compliance with applicable laws, and professional development for students when applicable. There are no costs associated with this partnership.

If expenditure is not currently budgeted, this will serve as the budget amendment when Board approved. If the agenda item includes the purchase of goods or services, the funds requested are an anticipated amount and may fluctuate depending on such factors as current market conditions, product availability, additional funding sources, and the needs of the District.  Should the actual cost exceed the anticipated amount, the Board approves the additional cost, after review by the superintendent, but not in excess of the funds available in the site’s approved annual budget.
