Approve the Professional Services Agreement between IU LLC, dba ACD (Accessible Communication for the Deaf) to provide sign language interpreting services for the deaf and hard of hearing in the amount of $5000.00.

Executive Summary

The Director of Exceptional Student Education, on behalf of the Superintendent of Schools, hereby request the Board approve the Professional Services Agreement between IU LLC, dba ACD and Hernando County School Board to provide substitute sign language interpreting services and other support services for students with disabilities in the district who are deaf or hard of hearing as designated in a students’ Individual Education Plan (IEP). The changes from the previous years agreement (2021-2022) are hourly increase of $7.00 per hour from $70.00 per hour to $77.00 per hour from Monday - Friday, hourly increase of $2.00 per hour from $75.00 per hour to $77.00 per hour weekends and holidays from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm and work performed outside of the traditional classroom setting. Approval is also requested for the issuance of a purchase order for an estimated $5,000.00 for the 2022-2023 school year.

 

The Agreement will also afford the district a vendor to contact if services are needed for parents and staff who are deaf and hard of hearing in accordance with the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) regulations.

Financial Impact

The cost for this agenda item is $ 5,000.00, see attached budget sheet.  The cost for the previous fiscal year was $0.

 

If expenditure is not currently budgeted, this will serve as the budget amendment when Board approved. If the agenda item includes the purchase of goods or services, the funds requested are an anticipated amount and may fluctuate depending on such factors as current market conditions, product availability, additional funding sources, and the needs of the District.  Should the actual cost exceed the anticipated amount, the Board approves the additional cost, after review by the superintendent, but not in excess of the funds available in the site’s approved annual budget.
