Approve Business Services job descriptions and other revisions for the 2026-2027 school year.

body

Executive Summary

The Assistant Superintendent of Business Services & Operations and the Director of Human Resources, on behalf of the Superintendent of Schools, request approval of the Business Services job descriptions and other revisions for the 2026-2027 school year.

Maintenance & Support Operations

As part of the district’s ongoing commitment to operational efficiency, administrative and support services positions are continually evaluated to identify opportunities to maximize resources while maintaining high levels of service. Through this review process, the district determined that the responsibilities associated with the vacant Director of Maintenance and Director of Purchasing & Warehouse positions can be effectively redistributed and managed through existing organizational expertise instead of filling the positions at the director level. By restructuring three existing management-level positions to coordinator-level positions, the district can strengthen operational capacity while realizing significant cost savings. This approach reflects a commitment to doing more with existing resources while promoting internal talent development and succession planning. Utilizing staff already familiar with district systems and procedures will support a seamless transition of responsibilities, minimize operational disruption, and reinforce the district’s investment in employee growth and internal expertise.

Human Resources and Communications

Additionally, as part of an interdepartmental realignment, selected responsibilities currently assigned to the Coordinator of Human Resources will be redistributed among existing Human Resources staff. This adjustment allows the position to transition to Coordinator of Marketing & Organizational Relations and assume expanded responsibilities that support districtwide communication and engagement initiatives under the supervision of the Director of Communications. To facilitate these enhanced duties, the position will maintain a dual reporting structure to both the Director of Human Resources and the Director of Communications. This alignment promotes cross-functional collaboration, strengthens communication efforts with both prospective applicants and current employees, and enhances organizational effectiveness without increasing overall staffing costs. The change is budget neutral and represents a strategic redistribution of existing responsibilities and resources.

Minor Technical and Grammatical Updates

The remaining updates include minor corrections or additions such as Florida Driver’s License and or Identification Card requirements, report to updates, and other grammatical corrections. These updates do not represent a budget impact or significant changes to the descriptions.

Financial Impact

See attached budget sheet.

If expenditure is not currently budgeted, this will serve as the budget amendment when Board approved. If the agenda item includes the purchase of goods or services, the funds requested are an anticipated amount and may fluctuate depending on such factors as current market conditions, product availability, additional funding sources, and the needs of the District.  Should the actual cost exceed the anticipated amount, the Board approves the additional cost, after review by the superintendent, but not in excess of the funds available in the site’s approved annual budget.
