Executive Summary

The Supervisor of College and Career Programs, on behalf of the Superintendent of Schools, hereby requests the Board to approve the purchase of instructional equipment and materials from STEMfinity in an estimated amount up to $200,000.00. This will enhance the Artificial Intelligence program at Springstead High School, the Advanced Information Technology program at Nature Coast Technical High School, and the Cybersecurity program at Hernando High School. These purchases will provide students with hands-on, technology-rich learning tools that support instruction in artificial intelligence concepts, computational thinking, data analysis, and emerging technologies aligned to workforce demands.

Funding for this purchase is provided through the Workforce Development Capitalization Incentive Grant Program (Workforce CAP), specifically awarded to support the Artificial Intelligence program at Springstead High School, the Advanced Information Technology program at Nature Coast Technical High School, and the Cybersecurity program at Hernando High School. These resources will strengthen program implementation, increase student engagement, and expand access to high-demand career pathways. No General Fund dollars will be used for this initiative.

Financial Impact

See attached budget sheet.

If expenditure is not currently budgeted, this will serve as the budget amendment when Board approved. If the agenda item includes the purchase of goods or services, the funds requested are an anticipated amount and may fluctuate depending on such factors as current market conditions, product availability, additional funding sources, and the needs of the District.  Should the actual cost exceed the anticipated amount, the Board approves the additional cost, after review by the superintendent, but not in excess of the funds available in the site’s approved annual budget.
