Executive Summary
The Director of Safe Schools, on behalf of the Superintendent of Schools, hereby requests the Board to review and approve Addendum C of the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office contract and approve the purchase of one (1) SRO K9 deputy for one year for $91,416.00. Addendum C represents the addition of one (1) SRO K9 deputy to serve under the School Resource Unit (SRO) in a float / roaming capacity. The HCSO agrees to pay for capital costs (items over $5,000 in value) which include assigned law enforcement vehicle along with the mechanisms that support the housing and transportation of the K-9 in said vehicle, as well as other capital costs that the HCSO currently funds as part of the existing contract. Allocation for this position will consist of 73% millage and 27% Hernando County Sheriff’s office.

If the agenda item includes the purchase of goods or services, the funds requested are an anticipated amount and may fluctuate depending on such factors as current market conditions, product availability, additional funding sources, and the needs of the District. Should the actual cost exceed the anticipated amount, the Board approves the additional cost, after review by the superintendent, but not in excess of the funds available in the site’s approved annual budget.
