Executive Summary

The Supervisor of School Counseling, on behalf of the Superintendent of Schools, hereby requests the Board to approve the proclamation declaring February 2-6, 2026, as National School Counseling Week in Hernando County Schools.

This annual observance recognizes the essential role that school counselors play in promoting academic achievement, career readiness, and social-emotional well-being for all students.

The proclamation affirms the district’s commitment to:

Highlighting the contributions of school counseling teams in fostering a safe and supportive learning environment.

Promoting collaboration among educators, families, and community partners to ensure student success.

Raising awareness of comprehensive counseling programs that prepare students for lifelong learning and achievement.

By adopting this proclamation, the Hernando County School Board demonstrates its appreciation for the dedication and impact of school counselors across the district. This recognition aligns with our strategic focus on student success and reinforces our mission to provide support for all learners.

Financial Impact

See attached budget sheet.

If expenditure is not currently budgeted, this will serve as the budget amendment when Board approved. If the agenda item includes the purchase of goods or services, the funds requested are an anticipated amount and may fluctuate depending on such factors as current market conditions, product availability, additional funding sources, and the needs of the District.  Should the actual cost exceed the anticipated amount, the Board approves the additional cost, after review by the superintendent, but not in excess of the funds available in the site’s approved annual budget.
